“Detox” is such a trendy word, but what does it even mean? For many, it may even be a taboo subject because in our standard allopathic medicine culture, we have detoxification organs for that, right?!
But we’re inundated with toxins from our personal care products, to our cleaning supplies, and in our food system (from glyphosates and other pesticides), and if you haven’t gone completely plant based then my guess is you are going pretty soon.
When you intentionally detox, it means ridding yourself of toxins that sneak into your body from alcohol, processed food, pesticides, air pollution, cleaning products and your perfume.
Sadly, we’re exposed to these toxins everyday. Over time these toxins cause your body to become backed up, sluggish and tired. You might start to notice you’re getting skin rashes, headaches and even storing more fat (especially in your mid section).
The way I see it when you turn detoxing into a lifestyle you’re supporting all of your body’s most powerful detoxification organs and gently cleansing your body on a regular basis. You’re relieving your body of what it doesn’t want, and giving it more of what it needs!
Truthfully, eventhough there is way too much controversy in the nutritional and medical world concerning this matter but I have come to believe that a short and not too intensive detox, like a one day detox can do a lot without the consequences of a long term detox, which can be detrimental for health. It’s why I started advocating for making detox a lifestyle instead of a short-term fix for a while ago.
I know that a one-day reset is great for anyone and everyone who can use a nudge or a “reset” as the name suggests. If you’re ready to get started, I’m sharing my One Day Detox Reset Guide.
Trust me, you need this!
I created it to help you jump-start the process of getting on track with long-term lifestyle changes, or getting back on track, if you’ve already been changing many aspects of your lifestyle.
Cleansing is one of the most powerful ways we can bring our bodies (and our minds) back into alignment. After all, balance is one of the most important things in our lives. Most cleanses don’t teach you how to shift long-term habits, which is really the key to looking and feeling your best.
As with all things, there is never an “overnight fix.” Short-term programs don’t really get out the deep toxicity completely. It takes time. How long have you been eating a certain way? Can it magically leave the body in 3 days? No, not at all.
But following these guidelines will be sure to get you right back on track if you are feeling bloated and unbalanced. Then incorporate these suggestions into your long-term lifestyle for maximum benefit so you experience true, ongoing cleansing.
Are you ready to give your body a boost and a break from toxin overload? Every day your body absorbs countless toxins
from modern food and the environment. So it’s good to “give yourself a break”. You can’t fully limit your exposure, but a one-day full body detox can give your body a much needed break to reset from within.
Follow these guidelines below to help flush out old, unwanted toxins and prepare your body for a new cleaner lifestyle that supports your organs, digestive system, mood, and energy.
Your experience will completely depend on how you’re feeling when you start, but by the end of the day, make sure to celebrate what you’ve accomplished. Then decide which of these guidelines you want to incorporate into your daily life for maintaining an ongoing detox lifestyle
START YOUR DAY WITH
This first detox tip is so simple, but is such a powerful way to start your day! Begin
your morning with WATER. A nice room temperature glass of water can rehydrate the body and start the brain function and get the gut working.
Following your lemon water, drink your Green smoothie! It’s an ideal
first meal of the day with powerful antioxidants that cleanse your body with loads
of fiber, enzymes and nutrients that support your body’s detoxification organs.
MIDDAY AND DINNER
A wide variety of dark leafy greens should be on the top of your list today. Every
green has a unique nutritional profile and will benefit your body differently, so
enjoy as many vegetables and greens as you possibly can. They have loads of fiber,
enzymes, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Some of my favorites: kale, rocket,
broccoli, and spinach. And don’t forget about sprouts and microgreens they offer antioxidant protection and support your body’s removal of excess.
We have tons of wonderful salad with simple dressing. I usually eat my veggies steamed or in the oven with some lemon and garnishes (oregano, thyme, paprika, cayene pepper)
